A violin tells a story - Nancy Toumbakari

A guide that seeks to introduce children and young people to the folk music tradition. Traditional music combines speech, body and movement in an indivisible trinity, where song, music and dance are linked to customs and rituals of the cycle of the seasons of time and the cycle of human life.

The narrative - told through a violin that represents the common man - is original, rich and direct, full of human stories and emotions, which are transformed into images and sounds. The many photographs, many published for the first time, are a valuable point of reference. Finally, the footnotes that run parallel to the text, document the narrative and refer to numerous sources.

The book is accompanied by a CD with musical excerpts.

The publication was carried out in collaboration with the Friends of the Phoivos Anogeianakis Folk Instrument Museum.
