A moving journey through the memories of nearly 100-year-old Stella Levi, a modern-day Scheherazade of Greenwich Village who survived the greatest atrocity of the twentieth century. Memories that transport us to Juderia, Rhodes, a sunny part of the Aegean where the Jewish community flourished for half a millennium, until the Nazi occupiers sent its 1,650 residents to Auschwitz – a sea and rail death journey with few survivors; the longest and most distant deportation of Jews in the history of the Holocaust.
The One Hundred Saturdays is a moving story of human survival that celebrates life and hope. A unique narrative, just before the end, that simultaneously records the creation of a tender and transformative friendship between narrator and listener.
Michael Frank is the author of the novel What is Missing and the autobiographical work The Mighty Franks , which in 2018 was awarded the JQ-Wingate Prize and was named one of the best books of the year by The Telegraph and The New Statesman . In 2020 he won a Guggenheim Fellowship. He lives with his family in New York and Camogli, Italy.
